When to Start a Business, The Importance of Legal Support and Quality Over Quantity

Welcome to my newsletter!

This week’s focus is a how to guide:

When to start a business - what you should and shouldn’t do.

The importance of legal support – make sure you have control of your money.

Quality over quantity – focus on your good people; not your mediocre ones.

When to start a business

Don’t start a recruitment business if you didn’t do really well in recruitment.

I’ve seen people set up their own recruitment businesses who, when they worked for me or others, struggled to make a deal.

Or if they did, they didn’t really get the business themselves.

I would say, if you’re going to set up your own recruitment business, make sure you can find clients.

Make sure you’ve got systems, tools and processes and understand how they work.

Make sure you’ve got somebody who can collect your money.

Make sure that you know how to find the candidates and you can build yourself a good reputation.

And make sure you’ve got a good billing track record behind you.

You don’t have to rush these things.

I didn’t start my business until I was in my 30s.

And actually, if you look at the average age of most successful entrepreneurs, it’s 45.

I know people that have set up businesses in their 50s and they’ve done really well as well.

So don’t worry about rushing.

Take your time.

Make sure you’re ready.

And make sure you have experience and success under your belt.
