Managing Expectations, Real Leadership and EQ

Welcome to my newsletter!

This week's focus:

Cut the fluff: managing expectations is how you win in recruitment – straight-up transparency.

What does being a leader really mean? – people choose managers, not jobs.

Look for people with high EQ – emotional intelligence always wins.

Cut the fluff: managing expectations is how you win in recruitment

Standing out as a recruiter is about managing expectations.

No fancy tricks, just straight-up transparency.

I call it the no-BS approach to recruitment.

So cut the fluff.

Be honest.

And by fluff, I mean any unnecessary or irrelevant information that distracts from your main point and wastes time.

This also means don’t exaggerate the truth or ‘fluff things up’ to make them sound better than they actually are.

Be honest and be direct.

To your candidates, be honest about what your clients can offer, their culture and their overall willingness to meet your expectations.

To your clients, be honest about what the candidates can do, their skillset, personality and experience, so that clients can make the decision as to whether that person will be a good fit.

This will create trust between you and your clients, and you and your candidates.

Ensuring there are no nasty surprises at the end.
